Lubrizol, a global leader in specialty chemicals, and Polyhose, a prominent fluid conveyance systems manufacturer, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a state-of-the-art medical tubing manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, India.
Supported by the Government of Tamil Nadu, this collaboration aims to significantly enhance the production capacity of medical-grade tubing used in critical neurovascular and cardiovascular applications, including balloon catheters and minimally invasive procedure catheters. The facility is expected to increase Lubrizol’s local medical tubing volume five-fold, improving access to life-saving medical devices both domestically and internationally.
The groundbreaking of the new manufacturing site is anticipated in 2025, with operations projected to commence by 2026. The facility will adhere to ISO 13485 standards, ensuring the production of safe and high-quality medical tubing. This initiative aligns with Lubrizol’s commitment to the “Make in India” campaign and expands upon its previously committed $350 million investment to support local manufacturing.
Rebecca Liebert, President and CEO of Lubrizol, emphasized India’s role as a hub for the company’s innovation and growth, stating that this investment underscores their dedication to a local-for-local and local-for-global strategy in India. This strategic collaboration is poised to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s position in the global medical manufacturing landscape, fostering innovation and contributing to the advancement of healthcare infrastructure.
