Lubrizol Corporation, a global leader in specialty chemicals, and Polyhose Group, a Chennai-based manufacturer of hoses and tubing, have announced a significant collaboration to establish a ₹200 crore medical manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. This partnership aims to strengthen India’s position in the global healthcare and medical device sectors by producing advanced medical-grade tubing and components.
The upcoming facility will focus on the production of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)-based medical products, which are widely used in applications such as catheters, surgical tools, and medical tubing. Lubrizol’s expertise in TPU technology, combined with Polyhose’s manufacturing capabilities, is expected to create high-quality, innovative products that meet stringent global standards.
This investment aligns with the Indian government’s push for self-reliance in healthcare manufacturing under initiatives like “Make in India” and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the medical devices sector. The facility will cater to both domestic and international markets, ensuring a robust supply chain for critical medical components while reducing import dependence.
The project is also expected to generate significant employment opportunities and foster the development of a skilled workforce in Tamil Nadu. Additionally, it reinforces the state’s reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing and industrial partnerships. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and localized production, Lubrizol and Polyhose aim to address the growing demand for medical-grade products and contribute to the enhancement of global healthcare infrastructure.
